Masternodes in the PirateCash network could be launched as early as 2018 and gained high popularity due to a 60% block reward. The old protocol had minor flaws allowing dishonest miners to steal rewards, which were addressed with corresponding code fixes. However, other issues emerged and were consistently addressed.
At block 917000, a decision was made to temporarily reduce masternode rewards from 60% to 0.1%, awaiting further code updates and service preparations.
After the v18 hard fork, we completely revamped the masternode protocol. To activate various network services, masternodes are essential. Update 18.1.0 was released, increasing the reward from 0.1% to 1%, effective from block 1296048 (approximately February 23, 2024, 03:43:25), boosting the ROI to 89%.
Additionally, we embedded a gradual reward increase in the code for masternodes, from 1% to the previous 60%, reflecting the project’s ongoing development. Every 49848 blocks (~ 72 days), masternode owners will experience a gradual reward increase as we utilize nodes for pirate services.
